CHICAGO, IL – The Philippine Department of Tourism once again gears up for the Chicago stop of the Travel and Adventure Show (formerly known as the Adventure Travel Expo), as Director Vernie Velarde-Morales announced the Philippine participation today.
This year’s Chicago Travel and Adventure Show will take place on January 28-29 at its regular Chicago venue at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. The Philippines will continue to be represented at this premier Show, with focus on the country’s unique island geography, natural attractions, colorful culture, numerous and exhilarating outdoor activities, and East-meets-West cuisine.
The Philippines has much to offer the average and the not-so-average traveler, with activities and sights that cater to even the pickiest traveler. With stretches of sand meeting clear blue waters, countless spas, and overflowing shopping malls, a memorable vacation is possible for anyone. For those who want a more active time in the Philippines, opportunities are in every corner, from kayaking through limestone caves, swimming with whale sharks, rock climbing, rappelling down waterfalls, to surfing on the choicest waves.
The Philippine booth will feature informational promotional brochures and vibrant visuals for Show-goers. A representative from the Manila Hotel will also be at the booth to provide information on the property.
In addition to a booth display, two events on Saturday, January 28, will feature the Philippines. First, Sulyap will perform twice on the Global Beats Stage (at 11:30am and at 1:00pm), sharing with Show-goers Filipino culture through music and dance. Then, at 2:40pm, the Philippines’ cuisine will be featured in the Fiery Food Challenge, in which Chef David Hilo, voted Crowd Favorite at last year’s Fiery Food Challenge, will prepare Spicy Pork Sisig for the judges and audience alike.
To start planning your next trip or to get more information on travel to the Philippines, stop by the Philippine booth, where you can pick up tour packages and brochures, and/or speak with someone regarding a trip to our country.
